Description
Description
CORE 2 monitors core body temperature and heat stress in real time, helping you better manage your training and optimize performance.
It allows you to conduct safe and effective heat training sessions, promoting physiological adaptations that can contribute to increased hemoglobin mass and improved VO2 max.
During competitions, it also enables real-time thermal data monitoring, allowing you to more precisely adjust pace, effort intensity, and cooling strategies.
For accurate use, it must be paired with a heart rate monitor, sold separately.
Heat Strain Index
Heat stress describes the set of physiological processes the body uses to cool itself. The greater the effort required to dissipate heat, the greater the thermal stress and its potential impact on performance.
CORE's Heat Strain Index (HSI) quantifies this stress in real time through an algorithm that combines core body temperature and skin temperature data.
Heat Zones
The Heat Strain Index is divided into four Heat Zones.
Zone 3 is the specific zone for heat training and promotes the physiological adaptations useful for improving performance.
Time spent in each zone is recorded and displayed directly in the CORE app.
Heat Training Load
The Heat Training Load is a daily value, expressed on a scale from 0 to 10, indicating the time spent in Zone 3.
An optimal heat training program typically involves 2-3 sessions per week, each lasting 45-60 minutes in the heat training zone.
Consecutive days with a high Heat Training Load contribute to increasing the Heat Adaptation Score.
Heat Adaptation Score
Under suitable conditions, the human body can progressively adapt to high temperatures.
The Heat Adaptation Score uses a formula based on scientific evidence to estimate the level of heat adaptation, expressed on a scale from 0 to 100%.
Using the Heat Zones, you can schedule sessions with an appropriate thermal load and progressively improve your adaptation level.
Core Body Temperature and Skin Temperature
Core body temperature is measured near the internal organs of the torso. It rises during exercise and, if it reaches excessively high values, can negatively affect performance.
Skin temperature, on the other hand, varies significantly based on environmental conditions. Although it contributes to internal temperature regulation, the two measurements are not always directly correlated.
CORE 2 uses both values to accurately calculate the Heat Strain Index.
