Troy Brosnan wanted a "unicorn" tire with a central tread design that could easily support high speeds and side knobs capable of handling world-class cornering speeds. Using our Rekon, Minion DHF, and High Roller II tread designs as a starting point, Troy and our team of engineers began developing the Dissector during the 2018 World Cup season. All the central knobs have a pronounced ramp to minimize resistance but maintain flat, sharp edges throughout their height to provide strong braking traction. Small cuts give the knobs additional flex, increasing their surface area during braking and aiding the transition into cornering towards the side knobs. The C-shaped side knobs are alternately positioned towards the centerline and outward. This tread design reduces uncertainty in the transition from the center to the shoulders during cornering. A distinct channel runs along both sides of the central knobs, along with wide spacing between all knobs, helping to clear debris.
