When it comes to high-performance cycling shoes, Shimano has always been a benchmark. With the new S-Phyre RX910, the Japanese brand raises the bar even higher, introducing a shoe specifically designed for gravel, but with technical solutions that also make it interesting for the XC marathon world and mixed road use.
Technology at the service of efficiency
The RX910 stands out for a construction focused on stiffness, stability, and power transfer, thanks to the use of the carbon plate integrated into the sole, directly borrowed from the RX801, but further evolved. This allows for a more efficient and responsive pedal stroke, even in the high-intensity sections typical of gravel races.
The sole uses a TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) compound optimized to resist abrasion and wear even in walking conditions, offering traction and durability on mixed surfaces such as rocky paths, dirt roads, or mud. The stiffness rating is 10 out of 12 on the Shimano scale, confirming the racing vocation of the model.
Comfort and precision in fit
The dual BOA® Li2 closure system ensures millimetric adjustment in both directions, improving the fit even while riding. The snug upper uses ultralight and breathable micro-perforated materials, minimizing pressure points and guaranteeing high comfort on longer rides.
Another key feature is the Dynalast construction, exclusive to Shimano, which optimizes the forefoot push angle to reduce fatigue and improve the power transmitted to the pedal stroke.
New SPD Pontoon system
The real revolution of the RX910 is the new pedal interface system, called the SPD Pontoon System. Shimano has introduced two lateral inserts in TPU bonded to the cleat, which not only facilitate walking (better distributing weight) but increase the contact surface with the pedal, improving stability and the feeling of “full connection” with the bike.
